German chamomile is an annual herb with tall stems, generally growing to 90 to 125 centimeters in height. It is widely grown in Europe and West Asia. Its leaves are as delicate as feathers, and it has daisy-like white flowers. The flowers of German chamomile are smaller than those of Roman chamomile. German chamomile has a strong smell, that its nickname "little stinky chamomile".
In folk remedies across southeastern Europe, German chamomile is one of the plants that often be studied and used ."Matricaria" means mother or woman, and the Latin root (matrix) means uterus. The liquid extracted from German chamomile essential oil is blue-green. This unique color comes from chamazulene, which is converted from chamazulene during the distillation process.
