The bergamot tree can grow to about 4 meters high, with star-shaped petals and smooth leaves. The fruit looks like a citrus, which is somewhere between orange and grapefruit, but the shape is pear-shaped. When mature, it turns from green to yellow, and the pulp has a slightly sour and bitter taste.
Since the 16th century, Italians have used bergamot as a traditional medicine. Because of its long-lasting fragrance, it became one of the most popular perfumes during the Napoleonic period, and it was also an important component of cologne. In traditional Chinese medicine, Bergamot is warm in medicinal properties and has precious medicinal value. Its roots, stems, leaves, flowers and fruits can be used as medicine.
The scent of bergamot has healing properties, which can make people feel a happy atmosphere, and can calm and soothe the mood.
Bergamot is non-toxic and non-irritating, but it may increase the photosensitivity of the skin. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight or ultraviolet rays after use. It is an exception if used for incense and there is no need to worry.
